Ephesians 1:7
"In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace."
When someone who does not know God confesses Jesus as their Savior, they are redeemed from sin. All the sins they have committed up to that point are washed away by the blood of Jesus. This redemption marks the beginning of one's life of faith.
Even if someone attends church for a long time, if they do not realize that Jesus is God and the only Savior, they have not yet been redeemed from sin, nor have they truly begun their spiritual journey. Confessing Jesus as Lord for the first time is simply entering the novice stage—the first step of faith. From that point on, one must learn obedience and repentance.
1 Peter 1:18–19
"For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect."
Redemption from sin cannot be achieved through gold, silver, or anything in this world. Only when sins are washed by the blood of Jesus and the heart is made clean can one truly believe in Jesus as the Savior. Confessing Jesus as Lord is not something forced by people; it is done through the Holy Spirit.
When the blood of Jesus cleanses our sins, the demons that were attached to us because of those sins must depart. It is the doubt planted by demons that prevents people from confessing Jesus as their Savior. Whether through evangelism or a specific event, once a person senses God's existence and acknowledges Him, Jesus becomes their Savior and redeems them.
From then on, the believer undergoes spiritual training to learn and live by God's Word. This is the discipline of repentance and obedience. Those who confess Jesus but despise a life of obedience and repentance will eventually abandon their faith and cannot enter Heaven.
Colossians 1:13–14
"For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins."
Those who do not know Jesus are under the dominion of darkness, living as slaves to the enemy, Satan. Jesus rescued those perishing as slaves to sin through His blood. He asked for nothing in return; He simply enabled us to recognize Him as Savior and delivered us from destruction.
When you accept that you are a sinner and confess Jesus as Savior, you are redeemed. Both hearing the Gospel and experiencing His power are by the grace of the Lord. Regardless of how the Lord approaches us, we must acknowledge Him. Then, He leads us, transforms us, and guides us toward the path of life. We must thoroughly acknowledge God as the Master of all things and strive for repentance and obedience.
Many begin their faith through grace but perish because they dislike spiritual training, falling into the human doctrine that "once saved is always saved."
Ephesians 1:7
"In him we have redemption through his blood..."
We are redeemed not by human merit, but by the overflowing grace of the Lord. However, being redeemed does not mean an immediate entry into Heaven. We must finish our work on this earth first. Redemption is the starting line. We must train ourselves to forgive, understand, and yield to our neighbors. Through this, our faith grows, and we become "wheat" (true believers).
Because many pastors preach that redemption from sin is the final salvation of the soul, many churchgoers avoid spiritual training, live as slaves to Satan, and perish. Do not stop at being redeemed.
Titus 2:14
"[He] gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good."
Jesus died on the cross for our sins to make us His people, eager for good works. Faith does not end with redemption; it begins there. When a redeemed person obeys the Lord's Word out of gratitude, the Lord is glorified.
Forgive the sins and flaws of your neighbors; this is obedience.
Discard arrogant thoughts and be humble; this glorifies God.
Do not seek only your own benefit, but yield to others to achieve harmony.
This is the faith that saves the soul. Memorizing Bible verses without practicing love is a dead faith still under Satan's bondage.
John 14:15
"If you love me, keep my commands."
Believing in Jesus means believing His words and acting on them. We must practice forgiveness and love. Human theories are meaningless. Acting according to fleshly desires is lawlessness. Following Jesus' commandments to benefit and help others is true faith and obedience.
Romans 1:5
"Through him we received grace and apostleship to call all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith for his name’s sake."
Faith and obedience share the same meaning. Paul preached to the Gentiles so they would believe and obey. Soul salvation is not achieved by a simple confession; it is achieved when the Word is put into practice. We must strive to obey and repent for our disobedience for our faith to be soul-saving.
1 John 3:23
"And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us."
God's commandment is to believe in Jesus and love one another. When we repent for failing to love, the blood of Jesus cleanses all our shortcomings. Anyone who leaves even a small amount of sin unrepented cannot enter Heaven, for it is a land without sin. Love means doing no harm to a neighbor. If you have hurt someone's heart or caused them material loss, repent daily so that no sin remains in your life. Do not try to do "great things" just to show off to others—that is pride. Let your good deeds be seen by God alone.
Romans 6:17–18
"But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness."
When we repent sincerely according to Jesus' teachings, we are freed from sin and death and become servants of righteousness and life. Righteousness, life, and peace belong to God, whereas slaves to sin live in resentment, complaining, pain, and anxiety.
1 Corinthians 6:9–10
"Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanders nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."
The unrighteous cannot enter Heaven. Scripture defines idolatry as lusting after worldly things. It explicitly warns against sexual immorality, homosexuality, theft, drunkenness, and extortion (taking from others by force or power). If Christians live wickedly and do not repent, they will go to Hell. Human doctrines may claim that just "attending church" guarantees Heaven, but this ignores the Bible.
John 3:36
"Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them."
To believe in the Son is to obey His Word and repent for breaking it. For those who remain disobedient and unrepentant, God's wrath remains. It is impossible for someone under God's wrath to enter Heaven. Pastors do not save souls by catering to the feelings of the congregation; they save them by rebuking sin and leading them to repentance.
Matthew 7:21
"Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven."
Doing the will of God means abandoning evil and doing good. Since we are not 100% perfect, we must strive to obey and repent for our failings. While people may hide their sins, nothing is hidden from the Lord—He sees the hatred, greed, and lust in the heart. Many act clean on the outside while slandering others; these are legalists who face harsher judgment than unbelievers. Examine your heart daily with the Word of Jesus to uncover hidden sins.
Luke 13:3
"I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish."
When the tower in Siloam fell and killed many, Jesus told His disciples that unless they repented, they would perish just the same. No one enters Heaven without repentance. How can those who only criticize others instead of seeking their own forgiveness enter the Kingdom?
Matthew 24:12–13
"Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved."
In a world full of lawlessness and selfishness, those who practice love until the end and repent of their shortcomings will go to Heaven. Even if others hurt you, you must treat their wounds. It is difficult to endure to the end, but the Lord says this is the way. Do not give up on a life of love.
Romans 10:16
"But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, 'Lord, who has believed our message?'"
Though the Gospel is preached, few truly believe and practice it. Most fall into formalistic faith. There are many in the church, but few on the way to Heaven.
James 2:22
"You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did."
Faith in the heart is invisible, but it is revealed through action. Abraham’s faith was proven when he offered Isaac. Biblical knowledge in the mind is not yet faith; it is recognized as saving faith only when practiced.
1 John 2:3–4
"We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands. Whoever says, 'I know him,' but does not do what he commands is a liar..."
Those who keep the commandment of love truly know Jesus. Those who do not are liars. Many Christians are on the path to Hell because they do not truly believe that Heaven and Hell are real. This is a false faith.
James 2:17
"In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead."
Knowing the Word but not doing it is a dead faith. Reading the Bible once and obeying it is more important than reading it a hundred times without action. Only those who realize they are sinners and repent will enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
