Acts 6:7-13

And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith. And Stephen, full of grace and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people. Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen. And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake. Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God. And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council, and set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law. * The disciples, filled with the Holy Spirit, boldly proclaimed the gospel on the streets. Through the working of the Holy Spirit, many began to believe in Jesus. Among them were the crowds who had once shouted to kill Jesus and a great number of priests who repented and received Him. Satan tried to stop the spreading of the gospel of life by using his servants. Those used as servants of Satan were not Gentiles who knew nothing of God; rather, they were people who believed in God but set aside the scriptures to follow human doctrines. In the synagogues, religious debates broke out between the disciples filled with the Holy Spirit and those who believed in human doctrines. At that time, the "synagogue" represents the "church" of today. False Christians who had not received the Spirit could not overcome Deacon Stephen, who spoke with the wisdom of the Holy Spirit. They tried to slander Deacon Stephen with all kinds of lies and brand him a heretic. They claimed that those who were filled with the Spirit and preaching the gospel were blaspheming Moses and God. The Spirit-filled disciples were preaching about Jesus, whom Moses said would come in the future. This was not blaspheming Moses; instead, it made the words of God spoken through Moses even firmer.

Deuteronomy 18:15

The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken.

Acts 7:37

This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear. * Moses prophesied that Jesus Christ would one day come into the world to fulfill the Old Testament Law. He spoke of the coming of an era where salvation is received through the blood of Jesus, ending the era of receiving atonement through the blood of lambs. God spoke in advance through Moses that the Law of the Old Testament would be transformed into the Law of Love. Filled with the Holy Spirit, the disciples realized God's perfect plan and will, and they taught these words to the people.

Galatians 3:24

Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. * The Law is a device that makes us realize our sins so that we may come to the Lord, repent, and be saved. This is the gospel of life. No human can be saved by keeping the entire Law. Only Jesus perfectly kept the Law, and through His righteousness and sacrifice, He redeemed us from all sins. Salvation is completed when those redeemed from sin repent of their sins. If a person redeemed from sin does not repent of their sin, their redemption becomes meaningless.

Acts 7:37-40

This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear. This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us: To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt, Saying unto Aaron, Make us gods to go before us: for as for this Moses, which brought us out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him. * Moses received the Ten Commandments from God on Mount Sinai. God did not give them to him directly but sent an angel to deliver them.

Acts 7:35

This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? the same did God send to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush. * In the Old Testament, there are many things accomplished by God's angels appearing in the world. God says that He Himself accomplished these things through them.

Exodus 3:4

And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I. * In the wilderness, a bush was on fire, yet it was not consumed. Moses approached to see this strange sight. Then the Lord called Moses' name: "Moses! Moses!" Moses was startled. However, the Bible clearly reveals that the one who spoke to Moses at that time was not Jehovah God Himself, but the Angel of God.

Exodus 3:2

And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. * The Angel of the Lord appeared to Moses and commanded him to lead the Israelites out of Egypt and into the land of Canaan. The "Angel of the Lord" mentioned here refers to a celestial being.

Genesis 18:1–2

And the Lord appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre… and he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him.

Genesis 18:8

And he took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat. * The God who appeared to Abraham and was served a meal is described as angels.

Genesis 19:1

And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom… * After finishing their conversation with Abraham, those angels went to Lot in Sodom. Although it is clearly recorded that Jehovah God met Abraham, in these passages, they are expressed as angels. This informs us that God works through His angels. The Israelites rejected Moses, who was leading them, and made idols to worship. This was because they hated obeying God's word and wanted to live according to human greed. Today, many pastors and church members hate obeying the words of Jesus and instead serve human doctrines. The cause of this is also the inability to let go of human pride and greed. What was the result of their disobedient lives? The Israelites were invaded and taken away to Babylon. The people of God were reduced to being slaves of a foreign nation. This means that pastors and church members today who abandon God's word to serve human doctrines will be attacked by Satan and eventually lose the path of life. Because the people of God do not repent, they fall into being servants of Satan and go to hell.

Acts 7:51-53

Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers: Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it. * The Israelites automatically become God's people from birth. Following traditional custom, they receive circumcision eight days after birth. However, their hearts remain uncircumcised. Outwardly, they are all descendants of Abraham. But most of them do not follow the faith of Abraham. Receiving physical circumcision does not mean one goes to heaven. Only those who receive the circumcision of the heart become citizens of heaven.

Circumcision of the heart means purifying the heart through repentance and obedience. Repenting of and discarding a proud and evil heart is the circumcision of the heart. One must maintain a humble and gentle heart through the fullness of the Holy Spirit. Striving to forgive, love, and be at peace with one another is what heart circumcision is. Christians who keep their pride and greed without repenting belong to Satan.

One is a true child of God only by receiving the Holy Spirit through repentance and following the Spirit's guidance. Receiving water baptism or diligently eating the bread and wine of communion is not true faith. These are formalistic faith. Keeping only a formal faith while having an evil heart is legalism. These people appear to have great faith in the eyes of men. However, in the eyes of God, it is a fake faith that cannot be saved. Currently, countless Christians have a faith that belongs to legalism. They receive only physical circumcision but not heart circumcision. They live always harboring pride, evil thoughts, and lustful thoughts. Such church members reject God's word and grieve the Holy Spirit.

The prophets of the Old Testament always testified that Jesus would come. Those who did not receive the circumcision of the heart hated, rejected, and persecuted the true prophets. The servants of the Lord in the New Testament era testify of the Jesus who will come again and teach people to obey His words. They proclaim that one must repent to go to heaven. The servants of the Lord who have not received heart circumcision oppose and persecute this truth.

Such pastors and church members may look like they believe in God, but they never repent or obey. These legalists value human doctrines more than the word of God. Those with such false faith may attend church all their lives, but they will eventually go to hell.

Acts 7:56-60

And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul. And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep. * When Deacon Stephen received the Holy Spirit and preached Jesus Christ, those who believed in human doctrines violently opposed this gospel. At that time, since the Apostle Paul had not yet met Jesus, he also hated and persecuted the Spirit-filled Christians. Those who believe in human doctrines belong to Satan. Therefore, such people follow Satan's thoughts and greatly dislike and kill Christians who receive the Spirit and obey the Lord's words. However, the true people of God cannot hate their enemies. Rather, they must earnestly pray to the Lord for a heart that can forgive even the enemies who persecute them.

Jesus taught His disciples how to pray: “Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us.” The Lord's kingdom is a kingdom of love. When we hate each other, harmony is broken and the kingdom of God is not achieved. All unbelievers belong to Satan. Those under Satan's control cannot forgive or love others. Those who believe in Jesus and receive the Holy Spirit must be the first to forgive and love others.

The power given by the Holy Spirit is first and foremost the power to forgive and love others. In places full of hatred, Christians must achieve harmony through the power of the Holy Spirit. Those who follow such guidance of the Holy Spirit are true children of God. Deacon Stephen was full of the Holy Spirit and obeyed the Lord's word until the moment of his death, entering heaven. All Christians must forgive all the faults of others before they die. Only then can their own faults and sins be fully forgiven by the blood of Jesus, allowing them to enter heaven. One must forgive even those who kill them during martyrdom. This is because those who forgive everyone enter heaven. The words Stephen left while being martyred teach us this truth.

Acts 8:6-8

And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed. And there was great joy in that city. * Through Philip, who was full of the Holy Spirit, Jesus preached the gospel across the nation and performed many miracles and signs. When many people believed in Jesus and repented at that time, the unclean spirits that were attached to them left crying out loudly. When the demons left, many diseases were cured, the paralyzed and the lame were healed, and great joy came upon that city. All curses, diseases, and suffering are given to humans by demons. When humans commit sins and do not repent, God allows demons to attack them. When humans realize their sins through such suffering and repent, the Lord heals them, restores them, and loves them again. When the Spirit-filled Philip preached the gospel, many believed in Jesus and repented. At that time, the power of the Holy Spirit appeared, driving out demons and setting them free from many diseases.

Acts 8:11-13

And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries. But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done. * Simon the sorcerer, who until then had been regarded as a great man by many people, was greatly surprised to see the power of the Holy Spirit appearing. Wicked thoughts entered him. He wanted to have even greater power than before. So he received water baptism and followed Philip with all his heart. The goal of that sorcerer was not to receive forgiveness of sins and go to heaven. His only desire was to perform more miracles to be recognized by more people, become more famous, and earn more honor and money. Even today, like that sorcerer, there are many pastors who have no interest in repentance or the salvation of souls, but use gifts, prophecies, and power only to earn their own honor and money.

Acts 8:18-20

And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. * Peter strongly warned the sorcerer who believed in Jesus with the wrong purpose. “Do you think you can buy God's gift with money? You will perish along with that money.” The sorcerer tried to pay money to receive God's gift and use it to satisfy his fleshly lusts. All those who use the gifts, power, and prophecies given by God for human glory instead of using them to save souls will perish. The gifts and prophecies possessed by such people no longer come from the Holy Spirit; they are gifts and powers given to them by Satan.

Acts 8:26-30

And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert. And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship, Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet. Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot. And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? * The Lord instructed Philip to go to the road leading from Jerusalem to Gaza. When Philip immediately obeyed and arrived there, a high official in charge of the financial management of the Queen of Ethiopia was passing by in a chariot. He was on his way back to his country after worshiping in Jerusalem. He was reading the writings of Isaiah in his chariot. However, he was frustrated because he did not understand who those words referred to. Therefore, the Lord sent Philip to him to make him understand. Through this, we can see that for those who desire to understand the Word of God, He employs every means to make them understand.

Acts 8:32-34

The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth: In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man? * Isaiah recorded that Jesus Christ would one day come into the world and die in place of all humanity for their sins. The eunuch read this important scripture passage but did not understand its meaning. Therefore, God, who knows the hearts of all people, sent Philip, who was full of the Holy Spirit, to him to make him understand. Even today, the Holy Spirit sends those who can help anyone who sincerely desires to understand the words of the Bible. The Holy Spirit may make them understand directly, or He may do so through those who have already understood. However, for those who distort the words of the Bible for their fleshly lusts, Satan works within them to make them believe human doctrines and move further away from the truth of salvation. For Christians who believe in only one God and strive to achieve repentance and obedience according to the words of the Bible, the Holy Spirit gives understanding through infinite grace and various ways and guides them to the path of life.
